KUANTAN: Schooling at SK Jeram will not be affected following the ill-fated accident at Km126 of Jalan Kuantan-Segamat near Muadzam Shah here yesterday, which killed two teachers and left several of their colleagues injured.
Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh said physical lessons will be conducted as usual at the school located in Masjid Tanah, Melaka with the Alor Gajah district education office providing the necessary assistance including manpower.
"Physical lessons at SK Jeram will be carried out as usual and there will be no interruptions to the academic session. The district education office will assist with the school time table and operations....there is no issues," he told reporters when met at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital(HTAA) here today.
Wong had earlier visited four teachers and a school staff from SK Jeram who were receiving treatment at HTAA.
Yesterday, two SK Jeram teachers and a 60-year-old operation assistant were among four people who were killed in the 12.40am incident after the tour bus they were in crashed into a trailer at the Bahau junction before flipping over on its side on a slope.
Hasnatul Adilah Hassan, 48, and Dahlia Ahmad, 52, both teachers, and the school's operation assistant Hamzah Ahmad, 60, along with the tour bus second driver Hadi Asyraf Mad Idris, 29, were killed in the accident
The tour bus ferrying 39 people - two drivers and 37 passengers including 22 teachers along with their children and five school support staffs - was travelling to Terengganu from from SK Jeram in Masjid Tanah.
Meanwhile, Wong said the Education Ministry through the district education office are prepared to provide counselling for all the school staffs including pupils who were involved in the crash.
"The ministry is prepared to provide support including counselors to offer psychosocial support to the victims. We hope the victims who are currently receiving treatment at hospitals will be able to return home soon.
"Officers from the Pahang and Melaka education department have visited some of the victims in hospital and at their respective homes to provide support, and we pray for their speedy recovery," he said.
