KUANTAN: The road crash involving a tour bus with a trailer at KM126 of Jalan Kuantan-Segamat near Muadzam Shah in Rompin here today has claimed another life.
Teacher Dahlia Ahmad, 52, succumbed to her injuries, raising the death toll of the incident to four.
Rompin police chief Deputy Superintendent Nor Azman Yusof said Dahlia succumbed to her injuries at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) here.
"The victim was receiving treatment at HTAA. She died about 9.30pm," he said in a text message to the media.
The 12.40am crash also claimed the lives of Dahlia's colleague Hasnatul Adilah Hassan, 48, the school's operation assistant Hamzah Ahmad, 60, and the tour bus second driver Hadi Asyraf Mad Idris, 29.
Hasnatul Adilah succumbed to her injuries at the accident scene while Hadi Asyraf died while on the way to the Muadzam Shah Hospital in Rompin.
Hamzah, who was supposed to retire on July 7 next month, breathed his last while receiving treatment at HTAA's red zone earlier today.
In the accident, the bus ferrying 39 people - two drivers and 37 passengers - was travelling to Terengganu from Melaka had crashed into a trailer at the Bahau junction before it flipped over on its side in a slope.
It was reported the bus was ferrying teachers from SK Jeram in Masjid Tanah, Melaka, along with their children to attend a programme in Terengganu.
The lorry driver escaped unhurt.
