Ministry warns towing and concrete producers against profiteering amid diesel hike [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry will not hesitate to serve notices to any towing firms and concrete producers which are found to be profiteering.

Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Fuziah Salleh said both towing firms and concrete producers are ineligible for diesel subsidies.

"They must be careful when raising their prices. If they aren't, they might be considered to be profiteering. And the ministry will not hesitate to take action under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act.

"For now, we are only giving diesel subsidies to lorries and trucks that carry basic necessities," she told the New Straits Times.

She added that the ministry is currently investigating complaints of profiteering by a concrete producer.

Earlier today, a news portal reported that vehicle-towing companies and concrete producers had raised their prices since yesterday following the hike in the price of diesel to RM3.35 per litre from RM2.15.

Certain goods transport vehicles are eligible for the subsidised diesel control system (SKDS 2.0) using the fleet card system. A total of 23 types of commercial vehicles are eligible for the subsidy.
