KUALA LUMPUR: The Ibadah Korban 2024, organised by Surau Media Prima, received an enthusiastic response from the employees of Media Prima Bhd (MPB).
Surau Media Prima chairman Fauzi Hashim reported that 12 cows were sacrificed this year for qurban, a significant increase from the five or six in previous years.
"Alhamdulillah, the response this year has been very encouraging. Employees even requested that we open the programme earlier," he said.
"As a result, the surau committee decided to open it in August last year. We had 84 participants this year. Many others were interested, but we had to close registration to ensure we could manage it effectively."
"Congratulations to everyone involved. May this act of worship be blessed and rewarded by Allah," he added.
The programme was attended by Media Prima group chairman Datuk Seri Dr Syed Hussian Aljunid.
Fauzi said that the event, held for over 10 years, involved 150 participants and volunteers assisting in the process and meat distribution.
This year, the cost for one share of a cow was RM820, including management expenses, with participants paying in installments since August last year.
"This year marked our last programme at Sri Pentas Bandar Utama. InsyaAllah, next year we will hold the program at Jalan Riong, Bangsar," he said.
Project manager Mohd Sattar Mat Yusof noted that the programme ran smoothly.
"I have been involved in this yearly programme and was chosen as the project manager this time, having led similar initiatives at a local mosque near my house for five years."
The meat distribution included five categories of beneficiaries, covering several welfare homes such as Rumah Kesayangan, Rumah Titian Kasih Titiwangsa, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Nur Syaheera, Rumah Sentuhan Budi, and 41 MPB cleaning staff.
