KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight bound for Kuala Lumpur from Hyderabad, India, had to return to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport from where it took off, due to technical issues with the aircraft's engine.
Times of India reported that the flight MH199, carrying over 100 passengers, took off at 12.45am but returned to Hyderabad airport because of technical reasons.
The flight was initially scheduled to take off at 12.15am.
It is understood that the aircraft experienced an engine malfunction, causing sparks to emanate from the affected engine.
Passengers are currently stranded at the airport as the plane remains grounded.
As of press time, MAS has yet to issue a statement on the incident.
