We have not been told to vacate seats, says MP who lost Bersatu membership

KUALA LUMPUR: One of the six Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia members of parliament who had their membership revoked claims they have yet to be directed to vacate their seats.

Labuan MP Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman said he has no intention of taking any legal action now.

"Why file a case when the speaker (of the Dewan Rakyat) has not made a decision?

"We have not been directed to vacate our parliamentary seats," he told 'Berita Harian' today.

He was asked to comment on the case of the Nenggiri state seat holder Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, who appointed a lawyer to challenge the decision of the Kelantan state assembly speaker regarding the vacancy of the seat.

Azizi reportedly said that his lawyer would file the case in the Kota Baru High Court this Sunday.

On June 2, Suhaili's membership, along with that of five other MPs who had declared support for the unity government, namely Bukit Gantang's Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal, Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Azizi (Gua Musang), Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar) and Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanafi (Tanjong Karang), was revoked.

The decision was made after all six expressed support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
