Husband who dreamt of wife's death dies in tragic accident days later

MELAKA: "My late husband had a dream that I died. He said he couldn't live without me... I never thought he would be the one to go first."

After only six years of marriage, Nurul Hazirah Muhamad Sopian, 31, never thought she would be widowed so soon.

Her husband, Hilmi Saleh, 31, had shared with her his dream of her death, only for the inverse to happen a week later.

"I didn't notice any other changes because he seemed just like usual, and on the day of the incident, he went to work as usual after dropping off our son, Muhammad Aidan Faaeq, 5, at the Jaim (Melaka Islamic Religious Department) kindergarten at 7.30am.

"He didn't take his GrabFood bag when he dropped off our son, and after tidying up, he left for work around 7.50am after saying goodbye to me. I only learned about his accident from my father-in-law at 10.30am after being contacted by my husband's friend," she said when met at her in-laws' home in Kampung Semabok Dalam.

Nurul Hazirah said her husband, who had only worked as a food delivery rider for three years, was a loving person, close to his parents, and always willing to help. She added that he had previously worked as a site supervisor but lost his job due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Every day, my husband would stop by this house after 6.30pm to see his family after work.

"Even if he had already eaten at home, he would still have a taste of his mother's cooking," she said.

Meanwhile, her mother-in-law, Fatimah Mohd Jadi, 53, said that although she and her husband, Saleh Osman, 54, were deeply saddened by the passing of their only son, they accepted it as Allah's will.

She said their son's body was buried at the Kampung Semabok Islamic Cemetery after funeral prayers at the Al Abrar Mosque in Semabok.

Yesterday, the media reported that a GrabFood rider's noble act of giving way to an ambulance turned into a tragedy when he was hit by a car at the Padang Jambu traffic light intersection here.

The victim, Hilmi Saleh, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical team.
