Anwar 'advises' unity govt MPs not to skip upcoming Dewan Rakyat sitting

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has advised unity government members of parliament not to skip the Dewan Rakyat sitting.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said today's meeting was about tomorrow, when the second meeting of the third session of the 15th Parliament will take place for 15 days until July 18.

"(It was about) tomorrow morning, the start of Parliament. The special message is for everyone to attend Parliament, don't skip," he said when met by reporters outside the prime minister's official residence here.

The meeting, at the Seri Perdana Complex, is part of the government's routine ahead of the opening of the Dewan Rakyat session. It concluded at 6pm.

The vehicles of several ministers and deputy minister entered the complex about 2pm, with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi arriving at 3.25pm.

Among others present at the meeting with Anwar were Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

Besides the Dewan Rakyat, the Dewan Negara will meet for eight days, from July 22 to Aug 1.
