PM provides aid to 11 needy families in Padang Rengas

KUALA KANGSAR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended aid to 11 families from the B40 group in Padang Rengas parliamentary constituency today.

The aid, distributed through the Ziarah Kasih Madani initiative at RM1,000 per family, was facilitated by Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, the political secretary to the Finance Minister.

Muhammad Kamil highlighted that the aid aims to alleviate their living expenses. In addition to this contribution, they are assessing other needs such as home repairs through the Mesra Rakyat Project (PMR) under the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister's Department (ICU JPM) for these families.

"This Ziarah Kasih Madani initiative is unique as it stems directly from the Prime Minister's directive. As a representative, I have visited the field to engage with this group and understand the challenges they face.

"Our primary objective is to eradicate poverty and uplift the underprivileged through well-prepared initiatives," he told the media after delivering aid at the home of Ahmad Zawawi, 46, in Kg Jenalik Hulu, here today.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Kamil said the community would receive updates and support, with a focus on assisting targeted groups, especially senior citizens, in registering for diesel subsidies under the Budi Madani initiative.

He said this approach not only increases the number of registered individuals but also enhances their awareness of the benefits provided by the initiative.

"More field programmes need to be conducted to identify eligible individuals, particularly farmers or smallholders residing in rural or remote areas.

"I believe this coordination can be managed at the JaPen level with support from relevant agencies. This approach, in my view, is essential in maximising the registration rate among eligible groups to receive government subsidies," he added.

The Budi Madani initiative, launched on May 28, 2024, serves as a platform for distributing cash aid for diesel subsidies. It benefits individual diesel vehicle owners under the Budi Individual category and small-scale farmers and estate smallholders under the Budi Agri-Commodity category.– BERNAMA
