ARAU: The disappearance of an elderly woman who is believed to have left her home in Kampung Katong, Pauh here a week ago has left her family searching for answers.
Efforts to locate Rokiah Jaafar, 60, by her family were not only focused in the Pauh area but across the entire state, yet, no clues have emerged.
Rokiah's sister, Rohani Jaafar, 44, said Rokiah was reported missing after leaving her husband's house at noon on June 23.
They filed a police report the following day at the Arau police station around 1am.
"We have four siblings, but my sister (Rokiah) and I have been living here in Kampung Guring Bawah for a long time before she got married and moved with her husband to Kampung Katong last March.
"My sister makes toasted coconut paste (kerisik) at our home. From her daily routine, there was no sign that she wanted to run away from home.
"Right now, every night I find it difficult to sleep. I really hope my sister will be found safe," she said when met at Kampung Guring Bawah, Pauh, today.
Rohani's husband, Zunizam Ismail, 45, expressed hope that authorities would expand their search for his sister-in-law, in addition to the efforts by family members and villagers who are continuing their search.

Meanwhile, Arau police chief Superintendent Ahmad Mohsin Md Rodi confirmed they have expanded the search for the missing person, and notified police stations and the district police headquarters nearby.
