KUCHING: The Karnival KPDN Zon Sarawak is set to deliver an exciting array of activities over the weekend at the MetroCity Events Park in Matang here.
This is the fourth stop on the tour, following successful gatherings in Perlis, Kelantan and Perak that drew nearly 100,000 visitors.
With the theme "We are Consumers, Power of the Nation", the carnival aims to promote proactive consumerism by engaging the public directly.
It showcases the services of agencies under the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry while fostering trust between the government and community.
Visitors can look forward to consumer advocacy initiatives, advisory services, and the registration of various offerings from the ministry.
Event highlights include the ReDI programme, the Special Rahmah Menu Discount Card and the Price Catcher application.
Among the other highlights are retort machines from FoodBank, demonstrations of weighing device enforcement, and service booths set up by the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO), Department of Islamic Development (Jakim), Sirim and Mara.
A special booth will also be set up to allow visitors to assess the authenticity of their jewellery.
Local products from entrepreneurs participating in the Buy Malaysian Products Campaign will be on display and up for sale.
The main stage will feature performances by guest artistes and demonstrations of Sarawak's cultural heritage, including traditional dances and musicals.
Engagement talks by influencers and entrepreneurs, as well as discussions by departments under the ministry, will provide insights into their roles.
Children will be thrilled with a special appearance by Didi and Friends for a meet-and-greet.
There will also be various competitions for all ages, including a multi-category colouring contest and an arm-wrestling tournament.
The Rahmah Madani sales event is also a key feature, offering the B40 group, retirees and senior citizens essential items at significantly reduced prices.
Food stalls will serve the Menu Rahmah Madani, with dishes starting at just RM5.
The closing ceremony will be officiated by Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali tomorrow at 2pm.
The Karnival KPDN 2024 Zon Sarawak promises to be a memorable event for visitors, with vibrant performances from artistes like Melissa Francis, Bob Yunus and
Pentarama Japen Sarawak besides opportunities to support local entrepreneurs.
