PM reiterates vow to eradicate corruption, defend nation against extremism

IPOH: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today pledged that the unity government will spare no effort in eradicating corruption and protecting the country from any form of racial and religious extremism.

Describing this mission as a major task, Anwar, who is also the Tambun Member of Parliament, also called for the people's trust and support in his efforts to save the nation from divisive elements.

"As long as I am the Prime Minister, I will do everything I can to save this country.

"You must trust me. We have a major task ahead. We really need to work hard. We need to save this country.

"We are going to stop corruption and end racial ridicule. Of course, among the Malays they talk about this and that, Indians talk about this, Chinese too, then Sabah and Sarawak. We can't afford this," he said in his speech when meeting the Indian community in the Tambun parliamentary constituency at Chepor community hall here today.

"Everyone in this country must work together. We must understand that in this country, we must protect the interests of everyone," he added.

On other matters, Anwar said that time is of the essence as the country is entering a new era—the Digital Age and the era of Artificial Intelligence.

"We cannot waste our time. We are entering a new era—the Digital Age. Our children must be provided with the best computers and have access to good teachers.

"So, I appeal to you all to join me in making this country a better place, and I will continue to repeat this without hesitation.

"We will work hard, and I don't care what people say. What matters is that we need to save this country from greedy leaders who steal from us.

"We need to protect this country from racists and religious fanatics who would destroy it," he said.
