Woman critically injured after being struck by logs [WATCH]

GUA MUSANG: A 22-year-old woman was seriously injured after she was struck by logs that fell from a lorry at a traffic light near the Bendahara junction here today.

In the 11.30am incident, the lorry, which was laden with logs, overturned when the vehicle was making a left turn at the traffic light junction.

As a result, the logs fell and hit the woman, who was waiting at the traffic light, on her motorcycle. The logs also hit a car which was waiting on the opposite side of the traffic light junction.

District police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the woman was rushed to the Gua Musang Hospital here, while the driver of the lorry and the car escaped unhurt.

"The woman suffered severe bodily and head injuries and was sent to the hospital for treatment," he said.

The case, he said, is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.

He also urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the investigation officer for the case, Inspector Aida, at 012-4027283.
