Woman injured by falling logs in medically induced coma due to lung infection

KOTA BARU: A woman who was severely injured after being hit by falling logs from a lorry-trailer at a traffic light in Persimpangan Bendahara, near Gua Musang last Tuesday, was placed in a medically induced coma yesterday.

The victim's sister, Roslinda Jusoh, 40, said the procedure had to be performed on her younger sister, Siti Norelyana Kamaruzaman, 21, because of a lung infection.

She said this was to allow the doctors at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II) to administer treatment, including medication.

"Before she was put into a coma yesterday, my sister was still able to talk, and she seemed very strong.

"I hope she recovers soon. We also ask the public to pray for her speedy recovery," she said when contacted here today.

In the incident last Tuesday, Siti Norelyana was severely injured after being hit by logs that fell from a lorry-trailer in Persimpangan Bendahara, Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai.

In the incident at 11.23am, the lorry-trailer carrying a load of logs had reportedly overturned while passing through the traffic light intersection, causing Siti Norelyana, who was riding a motorcycle, to be thrown off her vehicle and hit by the falling logs.

Following that, the victim was sent to Gua Musang Hospital before being referred to HRPZ II for further treatment. She initially regained consciousness after six days of treatment.
