KUALA LUMPUR: A former Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) executive has alleged he was sacked over accusations that he reported irregularities to the National Audit Department and Public Accounts Committee.
According to FMT, Datuk Ariff Farhan Doss, the former HRD Corp chief operating officer has lodged representations with the industrial relations department on the matter.
Ariff said he was issued a show cause letter on April 4, purportedly in retaliation for alleged whistleblowing.
He said he was accused of making baseless claims that tarnished HRD Corp's reputation.
On April 17, he responded to the show cause letter, denying the allegations.
Despite this, he was summarily dismissed on May 15, due to HRD Corp's alleged loss of trust and confidence in him.
Ariff claimed the HRD Corp declined to attend a mediation session on July 3, citing its status as a company limited by guarantee and purported exemption from mediation under Section 52 of the Industrial Relations Act.
However, Ariff argued that HRD Corp is not listed as a statutory body by the Companies Commission of Malaysia.
Last week, the AG's report highlighted that a training programme involving 3,726 participants, some of who attended it up to 16 times, cost HRD Corp RM51.69 million.
Separately, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in a separate inquiry found that HRD Corp used RM3.77 billion in levies collected from employers for training development programmes to make several different investments.
This is despite the fact that it is not an investment institution.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is probing the findings of the report.
