APM catches reticulated python hiding in restaurant potted plant

KUALA LUMPUR: A 1.6-metre long reticulated python caused a scare at a restaurant in Jalan Tun Sambanthan here.

Civil Defence Force (APM) lance corporal Nurul Ain Jalal said they received a call about the snake at 3.36pm on Sunday.

"I arrived at the scene together with three other personnel arrived at 3.57pm and met the restaurant operator.

"We found the 1.6m-long snake coiled in one of the potted plants in the premises," she said when met at the scene.

Ain said they caught the snake and placed it in a sack.

"The snake will be handed over to the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) for further action."

The catch attracted a lot of attention as the restaurant was located nearby the Central Market.

A group of tourists was spotted asking if they could have their pictures taken with the snake wrapped around the arm of one of the APM personnel.
