KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu will take legal action against its former elected representatives who declared support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
According to Sinar Harian, Selangor Bersatu chief Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the party was not deterred by the Dewan Rakyat Speaker and Selangor State Assembly Speaker's decisions on the status of the "rebels".
"I believe the court will make the best decision based on the Federal Constitution and the law," Azmin said at a gathering to protest the Dewan Rakyat Speaker's decision in Kuala Selangor last night.
Last week, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul informed Bersatu that the seats of the six rebels will not be vacated.
Similarly, Selangor Speaker Lau Weng San announced that Selat Kelang assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rashid will retain his seat.
Rashid was among the seven Bersatu elected representatives whose membership was revoked by the party for declaring their support for the unity government.
The others are MPs, Datuk Syed Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang), Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi (Tanjong Karang) and Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan) and Gua Musang's Mohd Azizi Abu Naim.
