PETALING JAYA: A toddler suffered burns to her back after a clothes iron fell on her at the family's home in Ara Damansara on Sunday.
PJ deputy police chief Superintendent M. Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly said the one-year-and four-month-old girl was playing with her 1-year-old cousin at the time.
"The two were playing and the toddler began to cry while another cousin, aged 11, was ironing clothes with a steam iron.
"She tried to stop the toddler from crying by hugging her while holding the iron," he said today.
He said the other toddler approached the two and the iron fell and hit the girl's back.
"The victim was taken to hospital and is in stable condition.
"The case is being investigated for exposing a child to danger that may cause physical or emotional injury under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act," he said.
He said that five people who were in the house at the time had their statements recorded.
"No arrests have been made yet," he said.
