30 cases of fallen trees reported in Perlis due to storm

KANGAR: Thirty cases of uprooted trees were reported in Perlis following a storm that hit the state early this morning.

The fallen trees obstructed vehicle pathways and damaged houses and cars. No casualties were reported.

Perlis Civil Defence Force director Lieutenant Colonel Mohd Izaimi Md Daud said that the storm had affected Beseri in Padang Besar, Arau, Kuala Perlis, and Bintong in Kangar, among others.

"From 8.23am to 10am, we deployed our personnel to several locations such as Kampung Padang Malau in Beseri, Jalan Padang Nyu and Kampung Behor Ganchor in Arau, Jalan Bintong in Kangar, Jalan Istana Raja Muda in Padang Besar, Jalan Seberang Ramai and Jalan Kampung Wai in Kuala Perlis.

"Our work of cutting (the branches and tree trunks) and clearing the areas is ongoing," he said when contacted today.

He added that the agency had deployed 24 personnel and three officers to carry out the work.
