KLIA2 faces chaos amid global IT outage [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) experienced chaotic scenes today as thousands of passengers endured long queues for check-in due to a widespread global IT outage.

The disruption has reportedly caused major travel disruptions across airports in Europe, the United States, and Australia, impacting operations of several local airlines based at KLIA2.

The outage reportedly affected passenger and luggage check-in systems, forcing staff to conduct manual check-ins for each traveler.

Yesterday AirAsia admitted to experiencing an in-house system outage, but confirmed that there are no flight cancellations.

It is understood that Malaysia Airlines is not affected.

Really surprising airport and airlines haven't deployed more info staff, can't hear any general announcements, LED billboards not used".

In a follow-up post, @eljohn88 shared an 8-second video highlighting the situation and criticised the apparent lack of crisis communication and contingency planning.

Efforts to obtain comments from airline operators are ongoing.
