CYBERJAYA: The police traffic summons payment counters offering discounts of up to 50 per cent at the launch of the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang (HKHM) 2024 campaign here became one of the main attractions for visitors today.
This offer, running from 9am to 4.30pm, caught the attention of businessman S. Selvarajah, 72, who came to pay traffic summonses on behalf of a relative.
"It is very convenient that the government organises events with such a facility, allowing me to pay the summonses easily even though the queue was very long," he told Bernama.
Online trader Nursyikin Samad, 45, who had been in line since 8.30am to take advantage of the discounts, said the offer made it easy for her to settle her summonses quickly.
"This offer is indeed good, but the waiting time in line was quite long, and in this hot weather, it was rather difficult for me to stand for a long time," said Nursyikin, who lives in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, businessman Cheng Zhe Tiong, 34, who also queued up to pay his summonses, said the police should implement this initiative more frequently in every district or state.
"Sometimes our work schedules are unpredictable, and going to the appropriate place to pay can be difficult and we forget, so if the police can do this more often, it would be better for busy people like me," he said.
The Launch Ceremony of the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2024, which is carnival-themed, was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and serves as a platform enhance the spirit of nationalism and patriotism.
