Body of second victim in Batu Layar beach drowning found

KOTA TINGGI: The body of the second victim who drowned at the Batu Layar beach on Sunday has been found.

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department operations control centre said the body was found at around 7.45am on Monday.

"The body was found approximately 1 km away from where the victim was last seen," it said in a statement on Monday.

The body has been handed over to police and would be brought to the Kota Tinggi Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Tt was reported yesterday that a man drowned while another had gone missing while swimming at the Batu Layar beach on Sunday morning.

A search and rescue operation was immediately activated and a Petir 50 boat was deployed to the location.

A search and rescue forward base was also set up near the location.

Muhammad Syahmi Zamzam, 26, and Haqim Abdul Rahim Lee, 20 were seen frantically splashing and waving before they went missing around 9.30am.

Syahmi's body was found around 3.15pm on a beach about 1.5km away from where he went missing.
