ARAU: Sixteen candidates from Perlis achieved a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0 in the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) 2023.
State Education Department deputy director Ayub Ahmad said Perlis' state CGPA of 2.85 surpassing the national CGPA of 2.84.
"The number of candidates achieving CGPA 4.0 rose from 13 in 2022 to 16 last year.
"SMKA(P) Kangar still holds the highest school grade point average (GPS) at 3.23.
"SMK Putra in Kangar recorded its highest GPS ever at 3.21, up from 3.02 in 2022.
"SMK Syed Sirajuddin in Arau saw its GPS improve to 2.70 from 2.66 in the previous year," he said at a press conference to announce the state's STPM 2023 results here today.
One of Perlis' top achievers, Nur Syiefa Umairah Zaidi, said she was grateful for her results.
The SMK Syed Sirajuddin student aimed to study information technology at Universiti Sains Malaysia.
Syiefa, from Kampung Gial, Mata Ayer, dedicated her achievement to her parents, Zaidi Musa, 55, and Noraini Abdullah, 52.
