KUDAT: A man was found drowned while diving and spearfishing off the coast of Simpang Mengayau here.
The victim, Nikalmon Yusuf, 30, was pronounced dead by a medical officer.
Sabah Fire and Rescue department operations officer Assistant Fire Superintendent Riki Mohan Singh Ramday said they received an emergency call at 7.40pm yesterday.
He said a team of officers and personnel, along with an fire tender from the Kudat Fire and Rescue Station, were dispatched to the scene.
"The victim had already been found by the public at 7.30pm by the time the team arrived and he was given CPR before the fire brigade arrived.
"The fire brigade transported him to Kudat Hospital using an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit," he said when contacted today.
"After ensuring no further danger, the operation was concluded at 8.24pm," he said.
