Tributes pour in for Siti Zaharah

KUALA LUMPUR: Tributes poured in for former minister and former Paya Besar member of Parliament, the late Tan Sri Dr Siti Zaharah Sulaiman, who died last night.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki described the demise of the former Umno Wanite chief as a big loss not only to the party but also to the country.

"Allahyarharmah (Siti Zaharah) has made significant contributions and has fought for the better future and well-being of people in the country," he said.

Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad remembered Siti Zaharah as someone who has contributed immensely to the development of Wanita Umno.

"Her contributions to the party as well as the country will be remembered by all segments in the society," Noraini said, in a posting on her Facebook account.

Paya Besar MP Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah said Siti Zaharah was committed to her work especially to improve the welfare of the people in the parliamentary constituency.

"The last time I saw her was when I paid her a visit at the hospital. She told me to look after the party and the people in Paya Besar," he said.

It was reported that Siti Zaharah died yesterday at 11.23pm. She was 75.

Umno Supreme Council member and Maran Umno division chief Datuk Seri Shahaniza Samsuddin made the announcement on her Facebook page.
