KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his condolences to the family of former national unity and community development minister Tan Sri Dr Siti Zaharah Sulaiman.
The prime minister said Zaharah was a capable, committed and diligent leader.
"She was a close friend of mine during our time together in Umno. She was a capable, committed and diligent leader in her struggles when leading Wanita Umno.
"I am also grieving and praying that her family is given strength, that all her sins are forgiven, and that she is granted the best place by His side," he said in a Facebook post.
Zaharah died at 11.23pm last night.
She was 75.
Umno Supreme Council member and Maran Umno division chief Datuk Seri Shahaniza Samsuddin made the announcement on her Facebook page.
Zaharah was Wanita Umno chief and Paya Besar member of parliament.
