Sanusi urges DAP to apologise for defending beer company's school fundraising contribution

SUNGAI PETANI: Pas has urged DAP to admit its mistake and apologise for defending a beer company's contribution to a Chinese school's fundraiser.

Pas election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor today said DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng and its leaders should stop defending the mistake.

"An error has happened. Apologise, don't repeat it, end of story. Don't back it up with more lies.

"Once you lie, you keep lying to cover previous lies. It's exhausting," he said here.

Sanusi, who is Kedah menteri besar, said this in response to Lim's criticism of Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.

Lim had told Fadhlina not to align herself with Pas and Umno Youth on the issue and reminded her that she was not a Pas education minister.

Fadhlina had reminded school management boards to comply with guidelines when accepting donations.

Sanusi said Lim's criticism of Fadhlina showed that DAP recognised Pas' role in upholding Islamic principles in daily life.

"They acknowledge that when it comes to 'halal and haram' matters in life and divine prohibitions in religion, everyone links it to Pas. Thank you, DAP, for acknowledging Pas."

Sanusi added that consuming alcohol was forbidden for Muslims and was also harmful to all communities.

"So don't defend (the contribution) by saying that since we can (drink alcohol), we can also promote it anywhere. It's not allowed. Even Satan is angry. How can you promote beer in schools?

"Regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, if something is bad, it's bad for everyone.

"So don't bring it into schools. If you see a Chinese student drinking beer, is it good, is it bad? It's bad, right?"
