Tunku Temenggong Kedah receives Margarette Golding Award for philanthropy and charity

ALOR STAR: Tunku Temenggong of Kedah, Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Sultan Abdul Halim, has become the sixth Malaysian to receive the Margarette Golding Award.

The international accolade from the Inner Wheel Club celebrates individuals who have provided outstanding personal service to their local or wider communities.

Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz was honoured with the award due to her unwavering commitment to philanthropy, highlighting the profound impact of her exemplary charity work.

Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz has taken on pivotal roles as the founder of the Sultanah Bahiyah Foundation, a member of the governing board for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent, chairperson of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, and a pioneer with the Malaysian AIDS Council.

Her contributions to education and military service further underscore her dedication.

In her acceptance speech, Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz said she was honoured and grateful for being recognised with such an esteemed award.

" I am sincerely grateful to the International Inner Wheel for bestowing this honour upon me.

"I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Inner Wheel Club of Alor Star for their unwavering support and for recommending me for this award," she said during her Margarette Golding Award Bestowal Ceremony at The Grand Alora Hotel here last night.

Reflecting on the award, she said all the work that Inner Wheel Clubs worldwide are doing, with the award being a testament to the collective achievements of all the remarkable members of the club.

"It is a privilege to be associated with an organisation that tirelessly works to make a positive difference in our communities and beyond.

"Each one of you has played an integral role in making a difference. This award motivates us to continue striving for excellence and to uphold the values that Margarette Golding envisioned.

"It is a reminder that our efforts do not go unnoticed and that every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to create a ripple effect of positive change," she added.

Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz also assured that her team's effort would continue to align with the Inner Wheel Club's theme of "Heartbeat of Humanity: Every Beat Counts, Every Action Matters".

"As we celebrate this occasion, let us remember that the true essence of service lies in our ability to uplift others and to bring hope and joy to those in need.

"Let us continue to work together, hand-in-hand, to build a better and brighter future for all."

Meanwhile, Alor Star Inner Wheel Club president Rosni Bakar said that by honouring Her Highness, the club not only celebrates her achievements but also sets a benchmark for its aspirations.
