PUCHONG: All parties should move on from the school donation controversy to continue serving the people, says Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Hajah Aiman Athirah Sabu.
"At the Housing and Local Government Ministry, we still have a lot of work to focus on. So my priority is to serve the people as best I can as deputy minister," she told a press conference after launching the Madani Community Carnival at the Taman Putra Perdana food court today.
This follows a call by PKR central leadership council member Dr Maszlee Malik, who is former Simpang Renggam member of parliament, for Aiman Athirah to step down as Sepang MP and Amanah Women chief.
"I have already offered my apologies if there was any wrongdoing. For the rest, we must move on to focus on our work for the sake of the people. The people need our support and service," said Aiman Athirah.
The call by Maszlee, who is a former education minister, came after Aiman attended a fundraising event organised by a vernacular school that was also participated by an alcoholic beverage company.
At the event, Aiman Athirah is seen holding a mock cheque from the company on stage.
On July 19, a Facebook post by the Sepang Parliamentary Public Service Centre said Aiman Athirah was not told that the alcoholic beverage company was among the contributors to the school.
On July 23, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek reminded all school management boards to adhere to guidelines when accepting donations and that investigations into the incident are being conducted.
