GURUN: Two houses, two motorcycles and a car were destroyed when fire broke out in Kampung Guar Chempedak here last night.
Sungai Petani Zone 2 senior operations commander Fire Superintendent Johari Bar Azwar said no casualties were reported during the incident.
Johari said a team of 18 men from the Guar Chempedak and Yan Fire and Rescue stations were deployed to the scene after the department received a distress call over the incident at about 10pm.
"As soon as we arrived at the location, we found that three houses were on fire.
"Two houses were 70 percent destroyed, while another house was only five percent damaged.
" The incident also involved a Proton Wira car and two motorcycles," he said in the statement.
Johari said the fire was fully extinguished by 12.47am.
He added that the department is still investigating the cause and the extent of the damages from the fire.
