KUALA LUMPUR: The president of a charity organisation was caught for khalwat by officers from the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) at a hotel in the city.
According to a report by Skuad Khas Harian Metro, the man in his 40s, who is married and has a child, was actively collecting donations for Palestinians through his non-governmental organisation (NGO), between six and eight years ago.
"He was arrested by a team of Jawi officers while he was alone with a local woman in her thirties.
"The woman, who is also an active member of the NGO, was seen checking in to the hotel first, before the man arrived at about 2pm.
"The Jawi enforcement team went in to inspect the room at 4.45pm," the source told Harian Metro.
According to him, during the inspection, the man tried to escape and said he was meeting the woman to give her something.
However, the source said the man's attempt failed and he was arrested by Jawi officers.
"The man is outspoken on social media on the Palestinian conflict," he said.
