KUALA LUMPUR: Renowned producer and choreographer, Farah Sulaiman and her team are back after a successful staging of 'Get On Your Feet, The Charity Musical' last year.
In a press statement released recently, Farah and her team, The Sayang Dancers, are in the midst of preparing for another charity musical set for Sept 28 at Menara Ken's The Platform in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, here.
Titled 'Musical Treasures', the production, featuring The Sayang Dancers, is directed and written by Sabrina Hassan, with Alesia Dhana from Tiga Soul as the vocal coach.
Said Farah in the statement: "The staging of this production is once again to raise funds for Persatuan Sindrom Down Malaysia (PSDM), to help provide Individuals with Down Syndrome (IsDS) more opportunities to be better prepared for the real world.
"PSDM aims to establish university partnerships for practical training and research, to create aspecialised centre for vocational training, to enhance early intervention programmes, and to seek certification for our vocational training facilities.
"It also targets to expand services for IsDS, including installing multi-sensory rooms and therapeutic clinics and creating the Independent Living Centre (ILC) at their Putrajaya centre," she said.
The musical, which will have performances at 3pm and 8.30pm on the same day, will feature several famous Broadway hits, such as 'The Schuyler Sisters' from 'Hamilton'; 'Mamma Mia' from 'Mamma Mia!'; 'Hello Dolly' from 'Hello Dolly'; and 'The Lonely Goatherd' from 'The Sound Of Music.'
This production will showcase over 50 performers, both kids and adults who will be singing live and dancing to Farah's exciting choreography.
"As a fundraising initiative, we are aiming to raise RM300,000 to help PSDM reach its objectives.
"Besides fundraising, we hope to provide a platform for musical theatre practitioners and enthusiasts to develop their skills and demonstrate their talents while providing Malaysian audiences the opportunity to enjoy a musical theatre performance.
