RTD wants motorist to assist 'total loss vehicle' on road claim [WATCH]

KAJANG: The Road Transport Department (RTD) has advised the motorist who found his car which was supposed to have been written off as a total loss over a decade ago back on the road to come forward immediately.

RTD director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said he was aware such a case was circulating on social media and messaging service applications.

"We advise this individual to come forward immediately so that we can start investigating the matter.

"This individual should also lodge a police report on the matter to facilitate further investigation by the police as well," he told reporters when met at a driving institute here on Tuesday.

He said RTD's investigation would be focused on checking if any irresponsible individual was using the total loss vehicle.

A message has been circulated on Telegram by the individual who claimed that one of his relatives had spotted his old car, which had been written off as a total loss vehicle, back on the road.

The individual also claimed that that when he checked using the MyJPJ application, he found that the vehicle's road tax was still active although the vehicle was declared a total loss 12 years ago.
