52 Langkawi-Kuala Perlis ferry trips rescheduled

LANGKAWI: A total of 52 ferry trips between Langkawi and Kuala Perlis starting on Wednesday until Aug 31 will be rescheduled due to risks brought about due to shallow waters along the route.

Konsortium Ferry Line Ventures Sdn Bhd operations manager Norhafiz Abdul Wahid said the 52 ferry trips would be later or earlier than what was previously scheduled.

He said the changes were necessary due to the shallow waters around the Kuala Perlis ferry terminal.

"The adjustments involve 52 scheduled ferry trips to avoid incidents of ferries getting stuck on sandbanks.

"Additionally, Ferry Line has increased the safe water depth for ferry navigation to 1.4m from 1.2m previously," he said when contacted here today.

Norhafiz said passenger safety is a priority and any mishap at sea involving ferries could negatively impact the tourism industry.

"All parties should be aware of these schedule changes. Currently, there are no changes to the Langkawi-Kuala Kedah ferry schedule.

"Notice of the rescheduled ferry trips will be sent via email and text messages to passengers who purchased tickets online," he added.

He said passengers who bought tickets at the counter will be informed of the latest updates on the Cuti Cuti Langkawi Facebook page.

"Passengers who bought tickets online should contact the customer service centre to change their travel dates or visit the counter if they purchased tickets in person," he said.
