KUALA LUMPUR: A civil servant's decision to help a business partner 10 years ago proved costly after his friend failed to repay the loan.
Now the 38-year-old, who only wanted to be known as Fahmi, has a bad loan to his name and has been blacklisted.
Fahmi's troubles began when his friend asked him to help clear the business' debts.
"I told him many times to clear the debts when the business made huge profits but he was negligent," he told Kosmo!.
"When he wanted a loan, he even came to my house and begged me," said Fahmi who lives in Penang.
Fahmi said his friend suggested he take a RM100,000 personal loan in his capacity as a civil servant.
"After the loan was approved, he paid RM800 a month for six months, (one day) I got a call from the bank informing me that the no repayments had been made for months.
Fahmi's friend was nowhere to be found and had changed his number. In the end, Fahmi was blacklisted.
"I went to his home but his family told me he moved to Kuala Lumpur after he separated from his wife.
"My heart was filled with hatred and my anger came to a boil when I came across photos of him on social media holidaying overseas and buying branded goods."
Fahmi said he still has not cleared his debt and has been forced to reschedule the loan repayment.
