Police identify driver burnt to death in Jalan Teluk Intan-Bidor accident

TELUK INTAN: The driver who was burned to death after his car caught fire at KM24 of Jalan Teluk Intan-Bidor last night has been identified.

Hilir Perak district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Adnan Basri said the body has been identified as A. Mughilan, who lived in Teluk Intan.

Ahmad Adnan said police were informed of the incident at 11.10pm last night, involving a grey car.

He said the initial investigations revealed that the driver was on his way to Bidor from Teluk Intan. 

"Upon approaching the scene, he lost control of his vehicle, which landed in a drain on the opposite side of the road before catching fire.

"A team of firemen was rushed to the scene and managed to control the fire within 30 minutes. The victim was found burnt to death in his car," he said in a statement today.

Ahmad Adnan said the body was taken to the Forensic Unit of Teluk Intan Hospital at 12.10am for a post-mortem examination and identification.

"The father of the victim identified the body today at 10am and confirmed that it was his 28-year-old son.

"Police will take the victim's vehicle to Puspakom (Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre) for inspection.

"We are still investigating the case to determine the cause of the accident. Those with information are urged to contact Traffic Investigation Officer Inspector Muhammad Syamil Abd Manan at 011-10065817," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He advised the public to be more cautious, always stay alert, and adhere to existing traffic rules and regulations.

"It is also advised to ensure that the vehicle being driven is in good condition and to always take adequate breaks to prevent fatigue while driving at night," he said.
