Don't threaten Kesedar settlers over land grant issue, Zahid tells Pas leaders

GUA MUSANG: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today warned the Pas-led government not to use its power to threaten and scare South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar) settlers over the land grant issue.

The deputy prime minister and Umno president said the Kesedar settlers, including those in Nenggiri, deserve justice.

"I was informed that Kesedar has been facing a lot of problems from the state government's administration. They have been saying that the distribution of land grants can only be made by the state government.

"So far, Kesedar has paid the premium for more than 7,000 ha of land involving 2,200 settlers.

"We (Umno and BN) will not politicise the land issue but the accusation by the rival party is baseless," he told a press conference after a meet-the-people session with Kesedar settlers in Renok Baru here today.

Also present were Kelantan Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Kesedar chairman Datuk Zawawi Othman.

Earlier in his speech, Zahid said Kesedar and Felcra Berhad had become the latest targets of Pas in its ceramah for the Nenggiri by-election.

"They (Pas) now fear BN. That is why they are now attacking the heads of both these agencies," he said.

Zahid, who is also rural and regional development minister, was responding to attacks against Kesedar by Pas leaders in the campaigning for the Nenggiri by-election.
