Takiyuddin will reply to Kesedar chairman regarding remarks on land grant issue

KOTA BARU: Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said he would answer to South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar) chairman Datuk Zawawi Othman, who is likely to sue him over his remarks on the land grant issue, in his coming ceramah.

The PAS secretary-general said the ceramah would be held in Nenggiri.

"I do not want to give my reaction to his (Zawawi's) plan to take legal action against me now. I will explain it in my next ceramah," said the Kota Baru member of parliament.

Yesterday, Zawawi said he might sue Takiyuddin over the latter's remarks on land grants.

Zawawi said he would sue Takiyuddin if the Kota Baru member of parliament did not retract his statement that Kesedar had delayed processing "thousands" of land grants despite the state government's approval of settlers' applications.

He said if Takiyuddin failed to respond to his demand, he would proceed with the action after the Nenggiri by-election.

Zawawi was responding to a ceramah in Bertam Lama last Saturday where Takiyuddin claimed thousands of these land grants were supposed to have been given to settlers but had yet to be processed by Kesedar.

On another note, Takiyuddin said as of yesterday, he had not received any information on the allocation draft mentioned by the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof recently.

"As of yesterday, I did not receive it either via WhatsApp, phone call, or email," said Takiyuddin.

On Friday, Fadillah said the draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) on allocations for opposition members of parliament is ready.

He said the draft MoU would be handed over to Takiyuddin, who is the Perikatan Nasional chief whip.

He added if the opposition agreed to the draft MoU, the next step was to form a committee with representatives from both the opposition and the government.

Previously, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government was ready to provide allocations for opposition MPs.

Anwar said negotiations must be carried out with all opposition parties simultaneously.

In April, it was reported that the unity government's secretariat's top leadership had agreed in principle to consider allocating funds for opposition MPs.
