Ramanan seeks to make Sg Buloh nation's healthiest constituency

KUALA LUMPUR: Sungai Buloh member of parliament Datuk R. Ramanan said plans are underway to provide free medical checkups for his constituents to promote wellness.

Ramanan, who is also deputy entrepreneur development and cooperatives minister, said the plan would involve People's Housing Projects (PPRs) and apartment complexes in his constituency.

This, Ramanan added, was part of his efforts to shape Sungai Buloh into the healthiest constituency and promote wellness, as well as organising sporting activities there.

"I place a lot of emphasis on health, which will be prioritised in Sungai Buloh, in collaborating with several non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

"A free medical check-up programme will be conducted by bringing doctors to visit all PPRs and apartments in Sungai Buloh.

"Reports will be prepared for me after home medical check-ups are conducted.

"If there are any serious issue, they (the constituents) will be provided with free health guidance," he said after attending the Pernas Prihatin Programme at Kota Damansara.

The programme saw Perbadanan Nasional Bhd collaborating with Focus Point Vision Care Group Sdn Bhd to hand out free spectacles to schoolchildren.

Ramanan expressed his gratitude for their collaboration on the corporate social responsibility programme aimed at improving eye health among schoolchildren.

"We need to take care of our health from a young age; otherwise, it will deteriorate over time.

"If we look at the past few months, I have organised many sports activities in Sungai Buloh, such as football, futsal, sepak takraw and even fun runs.

"Health is the most important aspect of our lives. We can have all the money in the world, but if we don't have (good) health, it is pointless."
