Ramanan: Projek Mesra Rakyat funds for Sungai Buloh fully used

SHAH ALAM: The budget allocated to the Projek Mesra Rakyat (PMR) for the Sungai Buloh constituents was fully utilised, with no funds being returned to the Finance Ministry.

Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the funds were effectively spent to benefit the people in the constituency, focusing on key areas such as education, infrastructure, and disaster preparedness.

He said a substantial portion of the funds was channelled toward education facilities.

"Like last year, we ensured no allocations were returned this year (to the Finance Ministry).

"Much of it was used for schools and building orphanages, which is important as education is critical for our children, who are the future generation."

He said this after attending the Deepavali open house at the Sungai Buloh parliamentary constituency's public service centre here.

PMR also allocated an additional RM1 million to improve road infrastructure and issues related to public safety, such as repairing malfunctioned street lights.

"More than RM1 million has been allocated specifically for school facilities, recognising education's role in shaping young minds.

"We have set aside RM4.7 million over the past two years to address traffic-related issues, road safety, and essential maintenance," he said.

Ramanan said the government is also committed to disaster preparedness, specifically in flood-prone areas.

He thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for approving a large portion of the 2025 Budget for flood disaster management, including road repairs and flood mitigation initiatives.

"We've made significant preparations for floods, drawing from an extensive budget focused on disaster welfare, particularly flood prevention."

Meanwhile, Ramanan said the government is actively planning new initiatives for the Indian community, with multiple programmes in discussion for next year.

These initiatives aim to address the evolving needs of Indian entrepreneurs and families, enhancing their access to resources and opportunities for economic growth.

"We're discussing several unique initiatives for next year, ensuring we're taking the right steps in implementing these programmes," he said.
