What happened to Bandar Perabot project, Galas rep asks Kelantan govt

GUA MUSANG: Barisan Nasional today claimed that there has been no work on the Bandar Perabot project by the Pas-led state government after four years of its ground-breaking in 2020.

BN deputy election director for Nenggiri by-election Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim said the project, which involved the construction of three factories on 140ha of land, failed to provide jobs to 1,500 locals as promised.

Instead, Syahbuddin said, the state government had approved three forest plantation projects to be carried out on the site in the Chin Teck industrial area.

The construction of the factories was supposed to have begun two years ago.

"I am concerned about this as an assemblyman for Galas and the project is under my constituency.

"l even attended the ground-breaking that was officiated by former Kelantan menteri besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob on Sept 10, 2020.

"I traced the approval made by the Environmental Impact Assessment last year and it showed that the state government had approved the three forest plantation projects being carried out on the 140ha of the site's land and another 1,169ha of nearby land."

Syahbuddin, at a press conference in Bukit Cekati here today (Aug 11), said he hoped the state government would give him an explanation over the issue.

"I could not raise this issue during the last state assembly sitting as I was not given enough time by the speaker.

"But my question is, is the approval of the 1,169 ha of the forest farm project to Mckift Management Committee Sdn Bhd part of the joint venture commitment of the state government to enable this Bandar Perabot to become a reality?

"As the BN opposition assemblyman in Kelantan, I want this matter to be explained by the state government. I will also send a letter to the menteri besar soon."
