KUALA LUMPUR: A deputy director and five enforcement officers of a local authority, arrested on suspicion of accepting bribes to protect premises running prostitution and businesses using 'Ali Baba' licences, will be charged tomorrow.
Sources said the deputy director and one of the enforcement officers will be charged in the Shah Alam Courts in Selangor with three counts of soliciting and accepting bribes from premises operating as prostitution dens in the city.
"The senior officer of the local authority is expected to be charged with three counts of soliciting and accepting bribes totalling RM130,000 while the enforcement officer will be charged with one count of soliciting bribes from the prostitution dens."
Four others will be charged at the courts here. Each of them is expected to be charged with one count of accepting bribes from business premises operating in the country using 'Ali Baba' licences.
"They are expected to be charged with accepting between RM200 and RM800 in bribes from premises from premises operating in the country using 'Ali Baba' licenses to protect them from any enforcement actions."
It was reported that the Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission arrested three civil servants including a deputy director on suspicision of accepting bribes monthly from premises offering massage services and prostitution dens in the city.
Last month, it was reported that the MACC arrested eight enforcement officers for the suspected involvement of accepting bribes from business premises operating in the city with license or using 'Ali Baba' licenses.
