KUALA LUMPUR: The transcript from the cockpit voice recorder belonging to the N28JV aircraft which crashed in Elmina last year, revealed the panic and horror experienced by the pilots just before the disaster.
The transcript, released today as part of the Air Accident Investigation Bureau's (AAIB) final report on the tragedy, indicated that the pilots were in communication with the Subang control tower just prior to landing.
As the aircraft approached the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, it was cleared for landing by the control tower.
At 06:48:56.9 (in Coordinated Universal Time), the sound of a click was recorded via the cockpit area microphone voice or sound source.
This indicated that the aircraft's lift dump spoilers were activated.
One minute later, a sound similar to the lift dump warning aural tone came on, lasting 1.5 seconds.
The Second-in-Command (SIC), who was the pilot flying the aircraft, expressed concern, noticing something was not right.

SIC - Woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah. What's going on?
According to the report, the lift dump warning tone continued until the end of the recording.
In the final 10 seconds, the Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System was activated, with alerts such as "minimums", "sink rate" and "pull up" ringing.
The last moments recorded were:

SIC - Oihhh… oihhh oihh.
