Nenggiri by-election: Cops probing into 6 alleged offences [WATCH]

GUA MUSANG: Police have received 18 reports related to a number of suspected election offences since nomination day on Aug 3.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said investigation papers had been opened into six of the 18 reports.

He added that the alleged offences included incitement and posting offensive remarks.

"One of the cases involved an individual who edited a video of a ceramah organised by a political party during the Nenggiri by-election campaign," he said.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the SMK Sungai Asap polling centre here today (Saturday), Zaki said investigations into the six cases were ongoing.

"Once completed, police will hand over the papers to the deputy public prosecutor's office," he added.

On the election campaign that ended at midnight last night, he said all went smoothly without any untoward incident.

He also said police had issued 250 permits to political parties to carry out campaign activities and ceramah for the by-election.

The Nenggiri by-election is a straight fight between Barisan Nasional candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani and Rizwadi Ismail from Perikatan Nasional.
