KUALA LUMPUR: Police will question former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Tuesday for allegedly touching on 3R (race, religion, royalty) issues during the recent Nenggiri by-election.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain today said they would record a statement from Muhyiddin at his office at the Malaysian Investment Development Authority about 11am.
"There are 30 reports lodged involving investigations under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act and Section 504 of the Penal Code," he said when contacted.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail was reported saying he was confident Bersatu president Muhyiddin would cooperate in the investigation into his allegedly seditious remarks on 3R (race, religion, and royalty) issues during the campaign.
Muhyiddin, who is Perikatan Nasional chairman, had allegedly questioned the sovereignty of Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah when he was the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Muhyiddin claimed he had had the support of 115 members of parliament after the 15th General Election and the king should have called him to be sworn in as the 10th prime minister.
Earlier today, Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah urged the police to take action against Muhyiddin for allegedly touching on 3R issues.
