28 police reports lodged over Teresa Kok's halal comments

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 28 police reports have been lodged against Teresa Kok over her statements on the halal certification issue.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said they have received 28 reports as of 2pm on Monday.

"A total of six reports were lodged in Selangor followed by Perak (five), Kedah (four), Terengganu (four), Kelantan (three), Negri Sembilan (two), Pahang (two) and one respectively in Kuala Lumpur and Melaka," he said when contacted on Monday.

Earlier, Razarudin said the Seputeh member of parliament will be questioned by police tomorrow (Sept 10) over her statements regarding the halal certification.

Police from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department's D5 unit will be recording her statement.

It was reported that police have opened an investigation paper against Kok over her statements.

The investigation against the Seputeh member of parliament had been initiated following five reports that were lodged against her.

Kok, who is DAP vice-chairman, had opposed a proposal by the Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim), which would require all food establishments that do not serve pork or alcohol to obtain halal certification.
