21 hurt as bus owned by Selangor state secretary's office skids into drain

BANTING: A bus owned by the Selangor State Secretary's Office crashed into a drain here, injuring 21 people, six of them seriously.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said the department received a distress call on the incident at 1.07pm today (Aug 21).

"We sent two fire engines and 11 personnel from the Banting and Telok Panglima Garang fire stations to the scene in Jalan Simpang Morib, Kampung Kelanang.

"They arrived at 1.18pm and found 21 victims."

He said the bus was believed to have skidded and landed into a 2m-deep drain as it tried to avoid a motorcycle.

"Fifteen women and six men were on the bus at the time of the accident.

"Two men and four women suffered serious injuries, while 15 others suffered minor injuries."

He said the bus driver was pinned behind the wheel and was handed over to paramedics after he was extricated.

"The victims are aged 30s to 40s and are Selangor court staff.

"All victims were taken to Banting Hospital for treatment."
