GEORGE TOWN: A male corpse was found floating in the waters off Teluk Bahang here yesterday, by a Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) patrol.
The agency's Penang director, Maritime Captain Razali Kasim, said they were informed by the patrol boat, which was carrying out operational orders, about the unidentified body found 8.9 nautical miles northwest of Teluk Bahang.
"Another MMEA patrol boat was deployed to the scene to assist with the recovery of the body.
"The body was then transferred and handed over to the Teluk Bahang police station for further investigation," he said today.
The public is urged to report any emergency or maritime accidents to the 24-hour emergency line NG999 or the Penang Maritime Operations Centre.
