KUANTAN: Police have denied reports circulating on social media about alleged kidnapping attempts at Taman Tas and Taman Tas Ria near here yesterday (Aug 21).
Kuantan police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said the department has not received any reports from any individuals about the alleged incident.
"Since noon today, a message about attempts to kidnap school pupils at Taman Tas and Taman Tas Ria in Kuantan had gone viral on various social media platforms. To date, no individuals have come forward to lodge a report on the incident.
"Anyone who witnessed or has information on the incident can go to any nearest police station to lodge a report on the matter. The public are reminded not to spread inaccurate information or make speculations on social media which might cause panic," he said in a statement here today (Aug 22).
The viral message advised parents to be on time when picking their children after school hours following two attempted kidnapping attempts at Taman Tas and Taman Tas Ria yesterday (Aug 21).
