PBRS leader: Hajiji justified in revealing scholarship approvals

KOTA KINABALU: The revealing of state scholarships awarded to the children of a former federal deputy minister is justified, says a Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) leader.

Party information chief Datuk Fredie Sua said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor made the move to dispel misperceptions and demonstrate transparency in the Sabah government.

On Sunday, Hajiji said that he had personally approved the scholarship application for the two children of state opposition leader Datuk Mohd Azis Jaman.

The move, Hajiji said, showed that the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-Pakatan Harapan coalition government was fair to everyone regardless of political affiliation.

"Datuk Hajiji's actions were justified as there have been numerous baseless accusations and slander directed towards his administration.

"As a component party of Barisan Nasional (BN), PBRS hopes that the Sabah state government will continue to prioritise education.

"Education is the foundation of the nation's future, and we believe that with continued focus on this sector, Sabah will progress and develop on par with other advanced nations.

"This effort will ensure a brighter future for Sabah's children and the continued success of the state and the nation," he said in a statement.
